Blogging in Literature


We read an entry from the Scholastic Atlas of Weather that talked about seasons.  Write a paragraph that describes your favorite season.  Make sure you include the type of weather, the activities that you can do, and why you chose that season.

You just read “The Stranger” by Chris Van Allsburg.  Think about the story.  Tell how the Baileys’ farm is different after the stranger’s visit.  Use details from the story to support your answer.

As you read Mountains by Seymour Simon, you read that mountains go through many changes.  What kinds of changes do people go through in their lives?

In our Theme 2 wrapup this week we have been talking about “Getting the Job Done”.  Think about the characaters in the stories we have read for the last five weeks.  Think about the ways they had to work together to get the everything done.  Now think about working together with people you know.  What are some ways that you can work together to get a job done with your family or firends.

You just read “Weaving a California Tradition” by Linda Yamane.  Think about this expository text and answer the following question.

Carly Tex is learning how to make the traditional baskets of her tribe.  What have you learned about traditions that are important to your heritage?

What is your favorite book?  Why is that book your favorite?  What makes it a memorable book to you?

What did you learn about Zero when you found out he’d never heard about the little old lady who lived in a shoe or Sesame Street?

The Warden obviously is interested in the object that was found in chapter 14. Write a paragraph predicting what the object is and why she is interested.

Stanley is pleased when he discovers he has been given the nickname, “Caveman.”  It means the boys finally respect him.  Write a short paragraph telling how to earn and keep respect.

Explain how you would feel if you had wrongly accused of something and were sent to a place like Camp Green Lake for your punishment.
